VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Are you a Railfan/Train-buff or just love our trains and museum? Then please consider being a volunteer here at the Railroad Museum of South Florida. You are Never to Old to Play with Trains!
Many volunteers maintain the various areas of the Museum, Railroad, and The Miniature Villages. Over 35 volunteers spend hundreds of hours helping with the major decorating and un-decorating during our Special Events – Halloween, Christmas, Easter and Liberty Express in July. Truly a team effort.
Other volunteer things that are done:
- Keeping the tracks free of leaves and debris
- Painting, basing and placing figurines
- Painting our various holiday display boards
- Organizing our storage areas
- Keeping our museum library in order
Our volunteers do a wonderful job in keeping the train route spruced up. We also have some talented wood-workers who build our 1/12th scale houses that you see along our route.
Other volunteers work in our museum by acting as docents and educating the public about railroading. Others work on the train exhibits and bring new ideas to life by making dioramas or providing educational opportunities for classrooms.
